Just add good company

The hush of the Somerset countryside is disturbed only by bats and bees; and by the clink of glasses and the peel of laughter. Parties are all the friendlier with long chats by crackling fires, hot tubs and real ale. Just add good company.

An idyllic escape surrounded by rolling hills

Penbridge Court nestles between the Quantock and Brendon Hills in deepest Somerset, where the rural hush is disturbed only by the bats and the bees. Oh, and by the clatter of heels, the clink of glasses and the peel of laughter. That’ll be you and your friends.

Invade this sandstone and timber barn and cottages and revel in the luxury of oak and elm beams, feature gallery, huge fireplace and rustically refurbished country kitchen.  The 200 year-old barns have been lovingly restored  to create a country base for up to 25 guests.

When you plan your party, factor in the two-metre hot tub, the flat-screen TVs, the wifi and the stunning gardens that await your marquee. At the end of a long night, the log burner sets the scene for tall tales over long drinks.

Fairies at the bottom of the garden? No, but we can offer a steam train – just wander the footpath to the lineside. Other post-hangover delights include trekking or riding, woodland crafts, crafting rustic furniture, or just sinking real ale in the Farmers Arms or Blue Ball Inn.

Hot tub, gardens and grounds

The Old Stone Barns has a wood-fired hot-tub, made just down the road in Cornwall from local Cornish wood. It’s in the perfect spot for making the most of the beautiful country views with a glass of champagne.

The large private garden, with sun-trap patio, is perfect for giant garden games, barbecues and relaxing. The smaller cottages each have a private terrace for a secluded escape during your stay at The Old Stone Barns.

You can even spot a steam train or two on the West Somerset railway from the bottom of the garden or if you want to get a little closer you can take the short walk to the edge of Farmer Les’s field!
