Country Kids

The gardens and grounds of The Grange are a great playground for children. Enjoy a swim, a soak in the hot tub or have a go at tennis. There are bikes in the Dovecote, perfect for a trip around the village or out into the countryside.

Children love steam trains. So take a trip on the West Somerset Railway – the longest steam heritage railway in the UK connecting Minehead with Bishops Lydeard.

Go walkabout in the UK’s first walkthrough meerkat enclosure, hand feed the Rainbow Lorikeets and enjoy the antics of the monkeys in Monkey Temple at Longleat Wildlife Park.

And at Pippin Equestrian you can enjoy pony treks, horse riding lessons – even have a go at show jumping.

For the Grown Ups

Head into the great outdoors and opt for a country pursuit, from an afternoon clay pigeon shooting to the art of archery or a spot of off-roading.

1610 Leisure organises a wide range of activities and adventure sports close to The Grange, including mountain biking, paintball, climbing, trigger tag, bushcraft and raft-building. If you prefer something a little more relaxing, our beauty therapists can turn the house into your own private spa, with all manner of pampering and treatments.

Fancy a trip out?  Spend the day at Sherbourne Castle. Explore the 42 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this perfect natural setting. Watch the abundant wildlife on the lake, feed the ducks, have a picnic and walk the dogs.

And when you feel like a drink stroll down to The Half Moon Inn, a warm and welcoming typical village pub frequented by locals. It has a varied menu of delicious meals, made from locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, and tempting bar snacks which are even better when washed down with real ale or something from their extensive range of New World vintages.
