Helping you get the most out of your stay

Visit Bath for incredible architecture

Originally founded as a spa town in 60AD, Bath is packed full of historic sites that will leave your eyes in awe and your mind blown. As well as being a visual masterpiece, Pulteney Bridge is one of just four bridges worldwide that feature shops on both sides.

Just a few steps further and you’ll find yourself at the stunning Bath Abbey – a church dating back to the 7th century, despite being rebuilt and restored several times since then. Booking ahead of time to avoid disappointment, you can spend hours exploring the jaw-dropping Gothic architecture and enjoying the peaceful magnificence of the Abbey’s interiors.

If you’re in the mood for more incredible architecture, the Royal Crescent won’t disappoint. The Grade I listed row of 30 houses is thought to be one of the best examples of Georgian architecture the UK had to offer. While you’re there, be sure to visit The Circus – another Georgian masterpiece, mimicking nearby Stonehenge with a unique ring of townhouses.

The best things to do in Bath

No visit to Bath would be complete without a trip to see the namesake Roman baths. Used for public bathing until the 5th century, you can still see the well preserved Sacred Spring, Roman Temple and Roman Bath House – as well as the nearby Grand Pump Room, where water was pumped from the hot springs of the baths.

While you can’t swim in the original Roman Baths, the experience is replicated at Thermae Bath Spa, which uses the same natural hot water supply in its main spa and stunning outdoor pool.

Literary fans can rejoice at the remarkable Jane Austen Centre, giving visitors a glimpse of life in the Regency period from a beautiful Georgian townhouse setting. Immerse yourself in the culture that inspired Austen’s novels, including a lifelike Jane Austen waxwork, Pride and Prejudice costumes and even Regency Tea Rooms for a post-exploring treat.

If you want to get out and about, Bath is perfectly situated next to the Cotswolds – offering nearly 800 square miles of beautiful landscapes. Or head south to Longleat Safari Park to marvel at lions, tigers, monkeys and more. Let’s not forget one of the most visited tourist attractions in the UK, Stonehenge, which is less than an hour down the road.
