Oak House

Orchard Farmhouse

A simpler way of living, yet a more luxurious one. That’s Oak House. In the depths of the North-Cotswolds countryside, where the hares and herons are ripe for the spotting, yet bursting with extras, like a heated swimming pool.
Oak House is crafted in traditional Cotswolds style from a single storey barn and stables and has won the Enjoy England 5 star Gold Award. The views are panoramic; the inside spaces vast and sumptuous. Beneath big skies, in big spaces, create wonderful memories. And total relaxation.
There’s an enclosed, beautifully designed south facing courtyard garden, opening onto the pool terrace, with heated outdoor swimming pool. Around the house are seven acres of grounds to roam around and relax in, plus a games room and adventure playground. It’s luxuriously simple.
The stylish, heated outdoor swimming pool is an 8.5m diameter hexagon shape set in a large, south-facing terrace. It is in a wonderful sheltered position, surrounded by hornbeam and yew hedges with fencing and a gate for peace of mind with children. It is open from May to September from 9.30am to 7pm.
Wander out from the Oak Room to spend a quiet moment or gather with family in the beautiful courtyard garden. It offers a perfect, secluded sun trap, sheltered behind big yew hedges. Pass through the courtyard garden gate to the pool terrace, and to the games room which is just round the corner of the Oak House.
The Stable Garden Suites, in the old stables, look out onto their own cottage garden, with a patio area. Beyond the main gardens are two large paddocks, one containing the adventure playground.
The paddocks slope gently down to the wild meadows and the brook which meanders along the boundary of the grounds. For parents’ interest, the brook is several hundred metres away from the house, and is separated from the adventure playground paddock by a fence.
Oak House has something money can’t buy – fabulous, tranquil views down this peaceful valley. It’s also fully loaded with everything you need to make your holiday exceed everyone’s expectations.
Like the huge living spaces – the Family Room is a massive 9m x 6m and the Oak Room is just as big. Then there’s the beautiful oak dining table that can seat up to 18 guests in comfort.
There’s the masses of squishy sofas in the Family Room and Oak Room, giving everyone space to spread out. You’ll also appreciate the home cinema with surround-sound. There’s even an iPod dock – just plug in your iPod and let your tunes fill the house.
For further entertainment, there’s a library of DVDs and CDs for adults and children, a selection of games, and for your enjoyment, lighting designed by a leading UK lighting company.
We want you to enjoy every moment of your stay at Oak House so whatever your desire for food and drink, we can help. If you love cooking then help yourselves to the range cooker in the kitchen overlooking the valley.
If you’d like a little or a lot of help then we can recommend a variety of dishes dropped off ready for the oven, to in-house catering. Or sample fine Cotswold cuisine at a local gastro-pub.
Looking for a special meal without any fuss? We can recommend highly rated chefs who will prepare a celebratory meal to order, all cooked and cleared out of the way. Once the plates are cleared, they’ll leave you to enjoy the rest of the evening.
At Oak House there’s bags of room for 12 to sleep in sumptuous luxury. Each bedroom is piled high with soft pillows, cushions and throws. Our beds are all pocket sprung and for your convenience can be set up either as twins or doubles.
Every bedroom has a luxurious ensuite bath or shower room with all the trimmings. The four Oak House bedrooms are grouped around our beautiful south-facing courtyard garden, with the two Stables bedroom suites just a stone’s throw away across the garden.
The adventure playground is in one of the paddocks, just beyond the sun terrace. There’s a great wooden climbing frame, a trampoline, swings, slide and a two-storey playhouse.
In the summer, mown paths through the long grass make a great natural playground. In the autumn, the hedges are full of juicy blackberries for you to enjoy.
Our games room is in a garden room opposite the pool terrace. There’s a pool table, table football and loads of fun stuff for children of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. Just the place for the kids to hang out or mums and dads to let off steam.
Down at the brook you can play pooh sticks on the bridge – and watch out for the heron catching trout.
