Egglestone Abbey gives the whole family the chance to see the charming ruins of a small monastery of Premonstratensian ‘white canons’, picturesquely set above a bend in the River Tees. A pleasant stop for budding artists and photographers.
Spend the day at Lightwater Valley at Ripon. There’s a theme park with activities including roller coasters and other rides.
