Got a guest-fest? Get down to The Cotswolds’ Kingham Cottages to get the generations together. Slog the ball around the all-weather tennis court. Dance around the five acres of landscaped gardens to a medley of exotic birdsong. Bob away an afternoon in the heated swimming pool. Get Turkish in the steam room.
Country Life reckoned Kingham was ‘England’s best village’. Deep inside the Cotswolds’ Evenlode Valley, only the rustle of leaves and the cheerful cheep of the pied wagtail tickle the silence. The postman tips his hat. And locals chat by the village green that comes bordered by elegant period cottages. You could be in a cider advert.
Foodie? Right by the legendary Kingham Plough and Wild Rabbit, and within a walk of Daylesford Organic’s fancy farm shop, you’ll discover a well of wellbeing in the heart of The Cotswolds. Or book our chef for a one-off meal or fully catered break, kick back, and sip wine in the sunshine. Take a deep dive into some seriously good living.
The interiors of the five Kingham Cottages are lovely but they share gardens and landscaped grounds so peaceful you’ll think you’ve taken up yogic flying and moved to Tibet. There’s a soundtrack of exotic birds here as you explore the five acres, meditate in the courtyard, picnic by the pond, and slap a ball across the tennis net.
Bring your cossie for the heated indoor pool with changing rooms and views over the gorgeous gardens. Slide into the steam room for a spot of Turkish delight. Feel all zen as you zig when everyone else zags.
Mark big milestones, celebrate successes, go big on birthdays and get the gang together for Kingham Cottages’ big, welcoming spaces and happy hidey-holes. Slip apart for serene me-time, or come together in Ryeworth’s den for movies, board games, 50s dolls’ house, and Great-Uncle Lenny’s trunk full of dressing-up clothes.
King’s Gate and The Loft come with FreeSat TV, oak floors and comfy seating, while Berry Pen has a large, light open-plan living area licked by flames from the open fire. There’s more open-plan opulence at Lodge Cottage, with its open fire, oak floor, comfortable sofas, and French windows that open onto the cottage garden.
Fully fitted kitchens in every cottage offer double ovens, dishwashers, and delightful dining spaces, and Ryeworth offers an Aga. For special occasions, congregate in Ryeworth to get 20 in the light-washed dining area with French-window views out onto the terrace. Head out there for bangers and burgers on the Weber barbecue.
Alternatively, ditch the whites in favour of drop-off meals, one-off slap-up feasts or a fully catered break from our in-house chefs, with waitresses on hand for your every need. Stock up at Tesco, M&S Foodhall, Sainsbury’s, and Daylesford Organic, the fanciest farm shop in the land, with everything grown and bred on site.
Don’t forget to discover the gastro-centre of Kingham. Walk to The Wild Rabbit for monkfish, venison, duck, and beef. Or head to The Kingham Plough, where modern British meets the Med over grazing plates in the comfy bar, elegant pub classics, wood-fired steaks, and the freshest shellfish.
Book Whistler’s for its buzzy bar and intimate dining on English classics or Bitter and Twisted for laid-back lunches and good veggie, vegan, and gluten-free options. Try The Fox for Scottish salmon, chargrilled gammon steak, or butternut squash and sage risotto. Or eat in a tent at Michelin-recommended The Yurt.
Pick from three three-bedroomed properties and two two-bedroomed cottages. The Kingham estate sleeps 26 across five cottages to a lulling background of exotic birds and rustling leaves.
