A Jurassic-coast jewel

If you’re not a lord or lady, now you can at least live like one. Kimmeridge Hall in Dorset is an oak-panelled dream of a country manor with drawing room to boot. Eighteenth-century plaster work and Furstenberg plates adorn the dining room; an air of grand opulence hangs in the air.

Age and character can be read in every beam, panel and 17th-century Dutch painting and ancestral portrait. Not that you’ll feel over-formal: the WiFi and satellite TV are far from ancient history and the modern kitchen comes with Mexican stone tiles.

If you’ve wanted a reunion, get-together, wedding or family escape, this is the place. Set in two acres of Mediterranean flower garden and orchard, Kimmeridge Hall is a Jurassic-coast jewel. It’s a place to escape the real world, leave the walled garden and walk the woods and fields, past sphinxes, urns and obelisks, down to Kimmeridge Bay.

Call up our chef for local game, meats and award-winning Dorset wine. Crack open the brandy (next to Brandy Bay) by the roaring fires and toast the sea views. Get the party started and get busy making memories.

Garden and Grounds

Two acres of flower gardens, orchards, and a Mediterranean garden surround Kimmeridge Hall.

At the bottom of the main walled garden is a walk through woods and fields, past sphinxes, urns and obelisks, down to the beautiful Kimmeridge Bay.

Breathtakingly beautiful

Kimmeridge Bay is the beautiful haunt of swimmers, divers, surfers and fossil-hunters. It’s also haunted by Clavell’s Tower, inspiration for the 1975 murder story The Black Tower. Lighten the mood with boat trips, fishing, falconry, riding or paragliding.
